Black Seam Editions is the publishing imprint of Black Seam Media LLC, a veteran-owned independent publishing and rights-management company based in Beckley, West Virginia.
We publish fiction and creative books across genres, bringing compelling stories, imaginative worlds, and carefully produced editions to readers. Our work is guided by a commitment to quality, clear editorial judgment, and respect for the reader.
Our Origins
The meaning behind Black Seam.
Southern West Virginia was shaped by the coal seams running beneath its hills. Coal helped power industries, sustain communities, and shape the region's history.
The Black Seam name honors those Appalachian roots. It also reflects what draws us to publishing: the belief that books hold something valuable waiting to be discovered.
Inside a book may be an unfamiliar world, an impossible choice, an enduring love, a dangerous secret, or a new creative experience. The cover opens the door. What lies within gives it meaning.

Black Seam Media LLC was established to create, publish, market, sell, distribute, license, and manage rights in books, ebooks, audiobooks, and related media.
Our publishing program begins with original books and an expanding catalog. The company's mission also encompasses publishing relationships with authors and rights holders through appropriate agreements.
Black Seam Editions serves as the house through which we develop, present, and bring books to readers. As the catalog grows, our standards remain central: care in the work, clarity in its presentation, and attention to the people who read it.
